Philips Respironics DreamWear Mask Frame, Genuine Spare Part
The DreamWear frame is the hollow silicone body of the mask. Air arrives from the tube at the top of the head, travels down two soft channels either side of the face and meets at the cushion under the nose, which is why there is nothing across the bridge of the nose and nothing in the field of view.
This is a genuine Philips Respironics spare part, supplied on its own in small, medium or large. Any frame size works with any DreamWear cushion, so a frame can be renewed without changing the rest of the mask.

Before fitting the frame
- The frame is part of the air path. It is assembled with a genuine DreamWear cushion and elbow, following the mask user guide, and is not adapted to parts from another mask system.
- The vent that clears exhaled air sits in the elbow, not the frame. Never block, tape over or modify any vent opening.
- Frame size and cushion size are separate choices. Changing frame size does not change the cushion required, and the two are not fitted by matching the labels.
- Where mask leak, pressure marks or discomfort persist after the frame is renewed, the fit is reviewed by the clinical service rather than corrected by tightening the headgear.
Why the frame is the part that wears
On most masks the frame is rigid plastic and the cushion does the work. DreamWear is built the other way round: the frame is soft silicone and hollow, so it is simultaneously the structure that holds the mask on the face and the duct that carries the air. That design is what gets the tube off the face and up to the crown of the head, and it is why the mask suits people who sleep on their side or their front, or who want to read or wear glasses in bed with the mask on.
It also explains why the frame is a wearing part rather than a permanent one. Silicone in daily contact with skin oils gradually loses the slight tackiness that holds a seal, and the arms lose a little of their spring, so the mask drifts and the headgear ends up being tightened to compensate. Tightening is the wrong fix: it presses the cushion harder against the face, marks the skin and often makes the leak worse. Philips sets the renewal interval at three months for that reason, and a frame reaching that point is a cheaper answer than a whole new mask.
Two things are worth knowing before ordering. The hollow arms mean that if one side is compressed against a pillow, the air redirects through the other, so side sleeping does not interrupt therapy, but it also means a split or a crack anywhere in the frame is a leak in the air path rather than a cosmetic fault. And the frame is not a universal part: it fits the DreamWear family only. Anyone with a different Philips mask, or a mask from another manufacturer, needs that manufacturer's own frame.

Specification limited to what is confirmed
- Frame length figures quoted in an earlier description have been left out. They were given in inches only and do not correspond to the physical size of any DreamWear frame, so they would have misled anyone sizing from them.
- Sizing is done with the manufacturer's DreamWear sizing gauge, or by matching the size marked on an existing frame. The size is printed on the frame itself, next to the connector.
- Part numbers above are confirmed against the pack before dispatch.

Routine care schedule
| Task | Interval |
|---|---|
| Wipe the frame and cushion clean after use | Daily |
| Wash the frame in warm water with a mild detergent, rinse and air dry away from direct sunlight | Weekly |
| Inspect the arms and connector for splits, cracks or hardening | Weekly |
| Renew the frame | Every three months |
| Renew the cushion | To the interval in the mask instructions, typically more often than the frame |
Intervals follow manufacturer guidance and are shortened where the mask is used in a shared or institutional setting.
